WIP: sewing for a cruise

Share

We are going for a cruise soon. There would be a meeting with a captain so my Nami should have an elegant evening dress.

Sketch

I decided to sew her a dress with tucks only because I’ve never sewn similar dress. This is the dress’s sketch I’m going to sew.

Sewing

I cut out the dress details from a dupioni silk for the dress itself and from a cotton fabric for the lining. First try on few hours leter. Not so bad for my opinion.

Then I’ve sewn a zipper and pinned up tucks.

I used a thin knitted bias for the hem. It won’t be visible later when the dress will be finished.

Hem

I removed all pins before sewing the hem of the dress. This was a huge mistake! Next I had to stab the pins again. And I had to try to do this carefully following the dress hem and the underskirt hem. This took a lot of time. Then I embellish the tucks with beads.

Finished dress

To finish the dress I made a sash from a ribbon.

Jeans

Because they’re so tiny I’ve sewn them by hand.
